Cathy Jamieson MP, Labour’s shadow financial secretary to the Treasury, commenting ahead of the publication of the Taxation of Pensions Bill, said:

“Labour supports greater freedom for savers which the government announced in the Budget. It’s vital that the government gets the details right, which is why we set three tests for these reforms on advice, fairness and cost.

“Ministers should not be watering down their commitments - increased flexibility for savers should be accompanied by free guidance on pensions that is high-quality, impartial and affordable.”
